Girl Scout Troop 736 is not wasting time baking cookies. Instead, the young women are developing their leadership skills while improving the world around them. The girls are working toward the prestigious and probably the most difficult awards possible in the organization, the Bronze and Silver awards.
As part of the work required achieving these awards, the troop has gone right to the top. Monday the girl met with county mayor Carolyn Bowers. The meeting with Bowers was the first of two meetings with both the city and county mayors to gain advice on what community project the troop should tackle.
One of the community interests the troop asked Bowers for an opinion on was working with the non-profit Precious Friends. The organization rescues unwanted puppy litters and finds new homes for them.
