Birthday In A Bag

The girls of Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland troop 40710 launched a community service project in honor of Juliette Gordon Low and the 100th anniversary of GSUSA, one that’s quickly becoming a nationwide event and even got a mention on GSUSA’s blog! A birthday-in-a-bag is a gift bag containing everything a person needs to have a birthday party, delivered to your local food bank to help those whose circumstances might otherwise make it difficult or impossible to have a celebration on their special day. Girls from 36 states and territories are currently participating in the creation and donation of these gift bags, and they’d love to have our Volunteer State join in.

To follow the project on Facebook and let the world know just how many Girl Scout troops are participating in this event, click here. You can also download a special printable swap here, created by the girls who started it all as a gift for everyone helping to support their project.
